I. Metshin took part in opening of the first in the city municipal park-and-ride

(KZN.RU, November 17, Anton Nozdrin). The first municipal park-and-ride with capacity of 150 cars opened in Kazan near the metro station “Koziya Sloboda” on Vakhitov Street. It was built in the framework of the UN Development Program to reduce exhaust gas emissions from road transport. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the new parking space, which feature is the opportunity to use free bike in the spring and summer. Special parking place for 50 bikes is provided here.

Aidar Abdulhakov, the chairman of the Committee on Transport Kazan, told the Mayor that 10% of the total number of parking spaces is for vehicles of disabled persons. As for the use of bicycles, he said that any driver, leaving the car in the parking lot, could use a bicycle for free. Using of the second bike will cost 30 rubles per hour. Now the parking will work as park-and-ride, with the possibility of transplants to public transport. Entrance to the underground station “Koziya Sloboda” is next to the parking lot, as well as a public transport stop, through which routes of 14 buses and 2 trolleybuses run, as well as 2 non-urban bus routes.

The service of park-and-ride up to 15 minutes is free of charge, and parking more than said time to be paid at the following rates: up to 1 hour - 30 rubles; more than 1 to 3 hours - 50 rubles; more than 3 to 8 hours - 100 rubles; more than 8 to 12 hours - 150 rubles; more than 12 hours - 200 rubles; estimated time of over 24 hours counts as a whole day. All methods of payment are available at the parking: SMS messages, a mobile application, parkomat with bank and transport cards, and cash at the guard point.

The new car parking is located near the Kazan State Power Engineering University. I. Metshin asked how the university staff will drive to the territory of the University. Danil Fomin, the director of the institution “Initiator of urban parking space”, said that a through-travel by special service cards is provided for them. D. Fomin also said that the students who use bicycles can leave their two-wheeled vehicles on this parking.

I. Metshin noted that there are no doubts about the relevance of this parking. “This is the key transfer node, near the university, stores and active streets. Let's see how it will work”, said the Mayor of Kazan.

Danil Fomin also said that the establishment of five such parking spaces in Kazan is planned. Currently, 3 projects are ready: on the Nazarbayev Street (near the metro station “Sukonnaya Sloboda”), on the S. Hakim street (near the Chasha), and at the intersection of the Prospect Yamashev and the Adoratsky Street.

Work on the equipment of the park-and-ride was launched on September 12 this year. Software of the installed parking equipment integrated with the software core of a single parking space Kazan.

The organization goal of municipal parking lots is to reduce the car traffic in the center of the city. “After the introduction of parking space, traffic in the central streets of the city improved by 7%, according to the service “Yandex traffic jams”.
