I. Metshin: “At this rate, we will be able to reach the troubled yards, which are waiting their hour"

Annually problematic roads, yards and sidewalks are getting ordered up to standard due to the support and attention of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, for Kazan. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said that at the Business Monday in the Executive Committee of the city, commenting on the results of the implementation of road works in 2016. Funding for road repair program was 3.1 billion rubles in the current year.

Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee on improvements, said that more than 2 million square meters of Kazan streets and yards were repaired for the current year. “In total, 10 million square meters of asphalt concrete pavement repaired in the city on the basis of the implementation of road works since 2011, every second square meter is renovated”, reported I. Kulyazhev. The deputy head of the Executive Committee also noted that the repairs of safety fences, barrier fencing, installation of traffic signs, road marking were produced. Existing pavements have been repaired in some streets, as well as new ones were built. I. Kulyazhev reminded that repair of 20 school route roads was held this year. Also journalists of the TV channel “Russia 24” in cooperation with experts evaluated the state of the roads in the capital of Tatarstan in July this year as part of the rally “Moscow – Omsk”. “According to a survey of 13 regions of Russia, Kazan roads took 2nd place”, said I. Kulyazhev.

“We have solved the problem of school routes in one fell swoop, and it is the safety of our children”, marked the Mayor of Kazan. Also, the he praised the comprehensive solution of the road infrastructure: road marking, installation of lighting and barriers.

According to I. Kulyazhev, more than 80 thousand inhabitants have felt the effect of the improvement of 234 yards and 22 driveways in total area of over 241 thousand square meters. Since 2011, the asphalt covering of 1445 yards is given to the standards in the capital of Tatarstan, which is 48% of the number of yards that require overhaul. I. Kulyazhev also noted that all work was carried out in the yard areas with the direct participation of citizens. Emerging controversies were solved, taking into account the views of tenants. Landscaping of yards was completed in September with “Feast of yards” in every district of the city.

I. Metshin noted that work on the yards repair will be continued. “People see the changes and want these changes. They are right in their desires”, said the Mayor. He reminded that the program of the yard areas overhaul is stable working 5 years thanks to the support of the Government of Tatarstan. “I hope, at this rate we can reach troubled yards, which are waiting for their hour”, said I. Metshin.

At the end of the report I. Kulyazhev said that the work on the formation of the road repair program for 2017 is already developing at the moment. The Mayor of Kazan noted the high quality of contractors’ work and thanked them for the last construction season.
