I. Metshin take part in the World Summit of Local and Regional Authorities in Bogota

(KZN.RU, October 14). The World Summit of Local and Regional Authorities is held in the Bogota, Colombia, which is attended by heads of cities from around the world. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, the President of the Eurasian department and co-president of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments”, presented Tatarstan on the World Summit.

The Summit brought together more than 3 thousand representatives of municipal and regional authorities, civil, business and scientific communities. The exchange of best practices of urban governance takes place on the international arena.

Also election of a new leadership at the UCLG 2016-2019 years will be held during the summit, for the second term in office of Kadir Topbash, the Mayor of Istanbul, as the president of the organization ends. “He led a very active work, deduced the authority of this organization on a serious level”, said earlier Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

The organization aims to strengthen cooperation of local governments and represents their interests on the world stage.

The UCLG has seven regional offices: Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Eurasia, Latin America, Middle East, North America, as well as the department of “Metropolis”, which brought together 137 capitals and major cities from all around the world.
