(KZN.RU, September 26). More than 20 thousand residents of Kazan took
part in the “Cross of the Nation”, which was held in the capital of Tatarstan
on the platform at the Central Stadium on September 25. Svetlana Vostrikova, the
chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Committee, said this today at the
Business Monday.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, thanked all the participants and
organizers and said that the city will always support those who lead a healthy
lifestyle. “I hope that the number of runners and fans of a healthy lifestyle
in Kazan will continue to grow”, said Ilsur Metshin.
S. Vostrikova reported that Ranel’ Sabirzyanov, who is 2 years and 6
months, became the youngest participant in the competition. And Ahmet Siraziev,
who is 88 years, was the eldest.
Professional sportsmen and veterans of sports started first. Races were
held at a distance of 12, 8, 6, 4 and 2 km.
“Sergei Korostelev, the deputy head of Cabinet of the RT and managing
director won with a large margin within the race heads of ministries and
departments on 1 km among men, and Alsu Miftahova, the director of the
Territorial Fund of Obligatory Medical Insurance of the RT - among women”, said
Svetlana Vostrikova.
Pupils, students of Youth Sports Schools and universities, employees of
state and public organizations took part in the mass start at 1 km.
Mass
races were held in 85 regions of the country in addition to Tatarstan.
