Issues of development of table tennis in the city were discussed in Kazan

(KZN.RU, September 22). The round table on the development of table tennis in the city was held today with the participation of Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. Gennady Argakov, the first vice-president of the Federation of table tennis of the RT, Damir Fattakhov, the first deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Svetlana Vostrikova, the chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports of Kazan, and others gathered in the Boxing and Table Tennis Center to discuss the topic.

Results of work in recent years were summed up, and plans for further development of table tennis were discussed during the meeting. S. Vostrikova reported that for today table tennis in Kazan is developing in six districts of the capital of Tatarstan on the 10 training facilities. “There are 22 full-time coaches on table tennis and one part-time coach in Kazan”, said the chairman of the relevant committee. She also reported that 553 students are engaged in table tennis in the municipal Youth Sports Schools, one of which is the master of sports of international class, and 17 are masters of sports. It was noted in the course of the discussion that the quality of training athletes has risen in recent years. “If in 2013 we had only three athletes, who are engaged in the supreme sport, now there are 18, ten of which have grown in Kazan”, noted S. Vostrikova. G. Argakov said that the best young tennis players from other regions of the country are invited to Kazan, which increases competition and the positive effect on local residents.

Ilsur Metshin also visited the training grounds of the Boxing and Table Tennis Center. The object was commissioned in October 2010 and is the primary basis for the development of table tennis in Kazan. The Center includes a fitness room, which can accommodate up to 16 tables for table tennis. In addition, training and warm-up rooms and boxing gym with stands for 2,000 seats available at the facility. By the way, the annual All-Russian class "B" boxing tournament among young athletes under 18 years old for the prizes of honored coach of Russia German Davydov is taking place these days at the Center. The Mayor of Kazan visited one of the fights of the tournament.
