(KZN.RU 24 August, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the
Mayor of Kazan, set a task to raise the level of the exam in physics,
chemistry, mathematics and foreign languages at the city August conference of
educators. He drew attention to the fact that the capital of Tatarstan has a
strong physico-chemical school. In addition, Kazan is one of the leaders in the
hospitality industry, and the need for knowledge of foreign languages is very
high.
Ilsur Hadiullin, the head of Education Department,
said that the average score of the exam, which was passed by more than 5
thousand Kazan graduates this year, above the national in all subjects except
geography and basic mathematics. The head of the Department of Education, referring
to the proportion of participants who do not overcome the minimum threshold, said
that the results in 4 subjects of 13 of Kazan graduates are worse than in the republic.
“We have graduates who do not overcome the minimum threshold for geography,
German and French, much less - in mathematics, computer science, biology, physics,
history, and English, compared to the megacities”, he said.
I. Hadiullin recalled that the average Kazan result in
USE on Russian, compared to last year, increased by 3.2 points and amounted to
73.6 points, in to the profile math - by 3.4 points and totaled 54.4 points. The
number of graduates, which didn’t overcome the minimum threshold for
mathematics profile, decreased by more than 2 times - from 5.8% to 2.61%.
"We see that the average score on the Russian
language and mathematics of Kazan graduates is considerably inferior to the
average score of graduates of few municipalities. Rating place of Kazan on the
Russian language is 13th, in math – 17th. Average of subject choice is good
enough, it is 60 points”, said Engel Fattakhov, the deputy Prime Minister of
the RT and the Minister of Education and Science of the RT. He urged methodical
service of the city carefully deal with the situation and strengthen the work
in this direction.
“Overall, 60% of the Kazan school show lower results than
average on Russian language and 66% of Kazan school – on math in Tatarstan”, he
said. “The gap between the 10% of the schools with the best and 10% of the
worst-performing slowly declining in Tatarstan and Kazan. The range of values
in selected areas of Kazan comes to 34 points on the Russian language and to
46 points on math”.
He noted that the number of Kazan schools, which were
among the top one hundred schools of the republic in the ranking of quality of
education, remains stable - there are 35 schools, or 21% of all schools in the
city. “I think that the time has come to increase the number and move forward.
Especially because of Naberezhnye Chelny and Bugulminsky district go a bit
forward – there are 31% and 23% of schools, respectively in their top-100”, said
E. Fattakhov. “There should not be bad or weak schools in Kazan, all of them
with good filling, staffed, and therefore, they should give a good result”, he
added.
Ilsur Hadiullin said that the amount of excellent work
became almost 20% more than in the previous year: the examination work of 3022 Kazan
graduates evaluated by 80 points or more. 50 graduates received 100 points;
three graduates of the Kazan scored maximum points for two subjects. Teachers of
schools K(P)FU and №131 prepared 9 excellent students, gymnasiums №19 and 102 –
3 excellent students, gymnasiums №6, 7, 21, 139 and IT-lyceum - 2 excellent
students. 41 teachers from 24 schools produced graduates, who have received the
maximum result.
“It is gratifying that we are among the leaders in
Tatarstan and Russia on the results of the exam”, said the Mayor of Kazan, who
thanked the teachers and principals for work. According to Ilsur Metshin,
in-depth analysis will be carried out which will show weaknesses. “There should
not be greatly lagging schools. We must take the patronage of those who are
lagging behind this year”, he said.
