Ilsur Metshin: “It were ceremonies, after which we woke up other people”

Opening and closing ceremonies of World Aquatics Championships 2015 in Kazan were recognized as the best mass theatrical performance in the category "Athletic event of national importance" and were awarded the prestigious "Sides of mass theater" award.

In this regard, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, who personally supervised the preparation of the opening and closing ceremonies of the water world championship in Kazan, noted that "as in the case of the Summer Universiade 2013, the team of Igor Krutoy and Alexey Sechenov has once again proved its artistic consistency: thanks to them opening and closing ceremonies of the championship allowed to show the world the unique culture and national diversity of Kazan, Tatarstan and Russia. Especially we are proud that our earth has grown a whole galaxy of talented young stars, who have played a major role in the opening ceremony and made it at the highest level. It looked gorgeous, luxurious, very dignified".

Ilsur Metshin also reminded that the opening ceremony was shown in TV broadcasts around the world and, more importantly, was repeated in Kazan 8 times. This great show almost everyone could see, a separate display was conducted for socially disadvantaged groups. "This show, this tale has allowed us to take another look at the history of our region, to ensure the splendor of our culture, to watch the talents of our people with pride and delight. It were ceremonies, after which, as two years before that, we woke up other people", - Ilsur Metshin said.

Earlier Kazan already was marked with award "Sides of mass theater". Then the award was presented to the organizers of the opening ceremony of the XXVII World Summer Universiade-2013.

XVI World Championships in Aquatics in Kazan took place in July-August 2015. He was recognized the best in the history of the tournament by the International Swimming Federation.

All-Russian professional award "Sides of mass theater" is held annually for the best mass theatrical performance of Russia and their authors. This year the competition was attended by about 70 projects of 2015 from 45 regions of our country. The award ceremony was held in the Petrovsky Putevoy Palace.
