Ilsur Metshin: "We will certainly fight for the holding of international events"
In an interview to TASS the Mayor of Kazan announced the intention to host the final one of the most prestigious European football tournament - the Champions League or Europe League in the near future.
"We will definitely fight for such international events. To do this we need to be represented in these tournaments to be known not only for individual matches with "Liverpool", "Sion", "Bordeaux" (rivals of "Rubin" in the group stage of the Europe League of this season). We not only dream, but do a great job to host such a great international event at "Kazan Arena" in the foreseeable future” - Metshin said.
In addition, Ilsur Metshin expressed the opinion that Kazan will certainly fight for the right to host the Summer Olympic Games, the city is now ready to conduct any major international tournament.
"Summer Olympic Games must pass in Kazan, - said Ilsur Metshin. - Definitely in the future we will fight for the right to host the Summer Olympic Games. I do not know, in which year it will be, in 2030 or 2050. But I hope to be able to see the games with my own eyes".
According to him, the infrastructure of the city allows to take competitions of any level in Kazan. "Thanks to the federal leadership of the country, thanks to the Universiade and the World Championships in Aquatics the best conditions for the biggest tournaments on the summer sports are created in Kazan – Metshin said. - We have everything from world-class sports arenas to hotels and airport. And we can already take an event of any level, including the Olympic Games".
