Meeting of Security Council of Republic of Tatarstan on food security was held in Kazan

(Kazan City KZN.RU, 23 March). Today in the Kazan Kremlin meeting of RT Security Council on the topic of food safety was held. It was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, T Deputy Prime Minister of R- Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov, Security Council Secretary Airat Shafigullin and others.

Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message to the Federal Assembly set a target to provide the domestic market with domestic food fully by 2020. It is necessary to create modern Russian technologies of production, storage, processing of agricultural products as well as seed and breeding stock.

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that a package of measures aimed at developing the production of agricultural products is adopted, and today there are positive results of this work. So, at the end of last year, the value of gross agricultural output amounted to 214 billion rubles, the share of gross value added in the gross regional product of the republic is 7.8%, levels of investment in agribusiness from all sources increased. Today Tatarstan ranked first for the production of milk among Russian regions, the second – in potato collection, the fourth - in terms of the production of meat and poultry, as well as is among the top ten producers of grain in the country.

Despite this, there is a significant reduction in livestock in private farms in the republic, there are problems with catering in social institutions. At the moment proposals for the introduction of a system of centralized procurement for selected groups of food products and certain territories of the republic are prepared, as well as control over the quality of food was enhanced. Special attention will be paid to the problem of falsification of dairy products, the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan reported.
