(Kazan City
KZN.RU, 6 February). Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin joined General Council of the
party "United Russia". The election of the supreme bodies of the
party took place at the plenary session of the XV Congress of "United
Russia", which is taking place these days in Moscow.
Recall, on
the eve the chairman of the "United Russia", Russian Prime Minister
Dmitry Medvedev met with the candidates to the Supreme and the General Council
of the party. He said that in accordance with the Charter the Congress must
hold the rotation of the party's leading bodies. "This is a very important
procedure. According to the regulations of our party, at every congress 15% of
the highest bodies of the party management need to be rotated. We missed one
iteration, so this year, in accordance with the regulations of the Charter, we
have to carry out the re-election of approximately one third of the heads of
the supreme bodies of the party "United Russia", - Medvedev said.
Referring
to the candidates to the Supreme and the General Council of the party, the
chairman said that they "are not only professionals, each in his place, but
people full of initiative and could add drive the life of the party".
After the dialogue with the representatives of the delegations from the regions
of the country Prime Minister recommended the approval of their candidacy,
noting that the final decision rests with Congress.
XV Congress
of the party "United Russia" was launched in Moscow on 5 February.
The main theme of the Congress is the preparation for the upcoming pre-federal
party vote to determine the nominees for the subsequent nomination of
candidates for deputies of the State Duma of the seventh convocation. The
congress is attended by delegations from every region of the country. Tatarstan
delegation, which includes Ilsur Metshin, is headed by the Secretary of "United
Russia", Chairman of State Council of RT Farid Mukhametshin.
The General
Council shall be elected by the Congress party for 5 years by secret ballot and
is a permanent governing collegial body. It consists of 170 people. The Council
also includes public figures and entrepreneurs, among them - the TV presenter
Peter Tolstoy, actor Alexei Guskov, a well-known surgeon, director of the
Novosibirsk Institute of Circulation Pathology Alexander Karaskov, director of
the Foreign Policy Research Institute and initiatives Veronika Krasheninnikova and
others.
