More than 35 thousands of Kazan residents took part in the fifth city-wide sports day

(Kazan City KZN.RU, February 1). The city-wide sports day "Sport Kazan-2015" was attended by more than 35 thousand residents. The chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports Svetlana Vostrikova reported about this to the Mayor of Kazan at today's Business Monday.

"Traditionally the program of Spartakiade was finished with cross-country skiing - chairman of the committee said. - 170 people from 44 teams competed over the weekend. The managing company "Zarechie" became the winner of the tournament of skiers”.

"Sport Kazan-2015" includes 8 sports: volleyball, football, skiing, athletics, cycling, swimming, badminton, table tennis. Throughout the year, workers of institutions, organizations and enterprises of 9 branches of municipal economy, as well as "teams of friends" identify the strongest in these sports. According S.Vostrikova, the number of participants of this year amounted to 35 thousand people from 456 teams, whereas the first Spartakiade was attended by 30 thousand of Kazan residents.

"Volleyball – 6704 participants, and mini-football - 3620 participants – were the most popular sports", - chairman of the committee said. Kazan Office of Internal Affairs, MUE "Metroelektrotrans" and "MTE-2" have become the sportiest organizations.

"Working to bring population to an active participation in sports will be continued in 2016, - S.Vostrikova noted. - Our aim is to bring the number of citizens systematically involved in sports to 40% by 2018".

Mayor Ilsur Metshin thanked the participants of Spartakiade and leaders of the most active companies. "Leaders are the same, and I am pleased that all the teams are actively involved," - said the Mayor. The Mayor also instructed S.Vostrikova to pay special attention to the development of mass sports. "We have good results in many terms, but we cannot neglect it. It is necessary that we were not only the most athletic city, but also the healthiest,"- I. Metshin said.
