I. Metshin: "2015 has shown impressive results in the birth rate"

The demographic situation in Kazan is a measure of all federal, republican and city programs, fertility, as well as the number of surrendered meters of housing, repaired roads is a litmus test of the health of any region. This opinion was expressed today at a Business Monday in the Executive Committee by the city mayor Ilsur Metshin commenting demographic records in Kazan on the results of 2015.

Head of the Civil Registry Office of Kazan Guzel Gabbasova made a report on the demographic situation at the stuff meeting. "One of the main indicators of confidence of young people in the future is the birth rate, - she said - and in 2015 a new record was - 24063 newborns were registered". Thus, over the past 15 years the birth rate has tripled. According G.Gabbasova, traditionally the number of newborn boys exceeded the number of girls: in 2015, 12261 boys and were 11802 girls were registered, including 251 from a pair of twins and one triple.

Also there is a tendency to create a large family in the city. "In Kazan, the share of second and subsequent children increased - said the head of the Registry Office. - For the first time in 2015 they accounted for 53% of total births. Kazan residents decide to create a large family easier, which speaks about social stability". According to her, in 2015, 521 families were registered, in which the birth of the fourth child or more was recorded.

"I am glad that Kazan residents are more likely to create a large family. So, they are confident in the future of their children", - the Mayor commented on the positive outcome.

In addition, the total fertility rate increased from 1.6 to 1.75 in Kazan. As G.Gabbasova explained, this figure shows how many births are on average per woman. "According to this indicator, we are ahead of Moscow and a number of other millionaire cities, remaining one of the few cities in which this figure corresponds to the national average. Total fertility rate in Kazan is higher than in some developed countries: Germany, Finland, Japan,"- she said.

In terms of fertility Kazan is ahead of such megacities as Ufa, where in the past year 18424 babies were born, Perm - 18140, Nizhny Novgorod - 18,482 and Samara (17,233 births).
