Due to the unusually warm weather in November and December 2015, all city hockey rinks of this season were open late. Hockey boxes were began to fill immediately with the establishment of steady minus temperatures in early January, and in the days of the New Year holidays residents and visitors could already enjoy skating.

According to Elena Toscheva, initially during the inspection 69 boxes of 80 got assessments "4" and "5", 11 boxes still got a satisfactory rating. "Claims were to the boxes, where the snow was not removed for more than a day or ice was of poor quality. Over the weekend we toured facilities again. 11 boxes were reconditioned. To date, all 80 hockey yard boxes are filled with ice", - reported Head of the Department. Elena Toscheva noted that this positive situation with hockey box in Kazan is observed for the first time. However, she promised to carry out spot checks for snow removal at the sites.

Ilsur Metshin urged to keep the state of hockey boxes in the yards under special control. "I am pleased to hear that all hockey boxes in the city are in appropriate quality. We practice the matches with the veterans of the sport not in the palaces of sports, but in the yards. Last year we played some times. Hopefully, this year the tradition will continue,"- the Mayor expressed his wish.
