I. Metshin: "In the days of heavy snowfall traffic jams in Kazan had been avoided"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, January 18, Zilya Gaifi). Kazan stoically withstood the siege of snowfall that hit the city in early January and continue to the present day with short-term interruptions. Since the beginning of winter, 215 000 tons of snow were exported from the city, including 115 thousand only in January. Through involvement of more harvesting equipment and increase of the duration of the road changes in days of heavy snowfall, traffic jams have been avoided. Deputy Head of the Executive Committee - Chairman of the Committee external accomplishment Igor Kulyazhev told how road authorities met the 2016 in Kazan today at the Business Monday.

According to the Hydro Meteorological Center of Tatarstan, from the beginning of the year 147% of the monthly precipitation norm (33 mm) fell. The thickness of the snow cover in the city was an average of 32 cm.

The vagaries of the weather were not a surprise for road services of the city. According to Igor Kulyazhev, work on clearing of the snow was conducted for 24 hours. "The average yield of equipment amounted to 568 units. In the days of worsening of weather conditions - 3, 9, 10, 13, 17 January - taking into account the additional attraction of the technique, up to 800 units per day worked on the streets. Since the beginning of winter, 215 000 tons of snow were exported from the city, including 115 thousand in January. Recycling was conducted at six snow melting points and at 15 temporary snow storage sites with a total area of ​​40 hectares. From the beginning of the year, 45 thousand items of icemelter were spent, including 20 thousand tons in January", - Igor Kulyazhev reported.

Traditionally, sidewalks along the hiking trails, access roads to the New Year towns, pedestrian crossings were in the focus of the public services. According to Igor Kulyazhev, 50 units of small machinery and 520 road workers were allocated for cleaning of pedestrian crossings and stopping areas.

During the first two weeks of heavy snowfall there were no serious accidents on the road facilities. Cleaning of the roads of snow continues in this moment – at day the road workers will start clearing of sidewalks, stopping areas and driveways, and on the main highways the work will be intensified at night.

Ilsur Metshin stressed that the traffic situation in Kazan is under control. "The cleaning of roads and yards of snow involves all utilities. City moves, and this is the most important. Yes, there are difficulties of movement, but the collapse has been avoided. First of all the main highways were cleared, and this is not only the center of the city. During heavy snowfall we looked at the work of snow melting cameras. The system of disposal of snow was created that confirms its effectiveness in the days of worsening of weather conditions. However, winter continues, we continue to work hard", - the Mayor concluded.
