I. Metshin: “It is impossible to imagine Kazan without Wi-Fi”

(Kazan City KZN.RU, November 30). The work on the introduction of free Wi-Fi in the public areas of the city is continuing in Kazan. Today Wi-Fi.kzn.ru service is available on more than 200 public places of the city. During the spring and summer 12,000 sessions on a daily basis were detected in the parks of the capital of Tatarstan. Head of department of information technology and communications of the Executive Committee of Kazan Rifat Khannanov told about the program for the creation of zones of free Wi-Fi in the city today at the Business Monday.

Zones of free Wi-Fi began to appear in public places of Kazan in 2012. Today practically the entire city center, as well as key transport hubs is covered by Wi-Fi free internet. The Kremlin embankment, the Kazan Kremlin, the international airport "Kazan", Lyadsky Park, Aksenov Square, "Kazan" Family Center, stadium "Kazan Arena", stadium "Labor Reserves", youth regional leisure centers, as well as many hotels, inns, cafes and restaurants are among them.

From the organization of the individual points of public Wi-Fi Kazan turned to the concept of a single space Wi-Fi.kzn.ru. "The aim of the project is the creation of a communications network accessible for city for residents and visitors to ensure maximum coverage area of seamless roaming with unlimited traffic within the network. Next year we plan to expand the single space with reconstruction of parks, squares and embankments, "- Rifat Khannanov told about the plans, noting that Lyadsky Park will be a pilot model, where full coverage of the park and the crossroads of Mushtari – Shchapova streets, St. Mayakovsky, Gorky provided on the basis of the modern optical network, and 20 video cameras provide a high level of security.

Registration at one of the host posts is sufficient to access all objects of the network. On devices once connected to Wi-Fi.kzn.ru, factor "re-visit" is running and there is no need to register at each input.

In the future, Rifat Khannanov said, project Wi-Fi.kzn.ru will be used for the realization of social and sporting strategy of the city, for conducting the city events. Also in 2016 it is planned to connect all operators to the project. The next step will be the integration of urban areas of free Wi-Fi with the complex "Safe City".

Mayor Ilsur Metshin noted that special attention is given to the project on the information development of Kazan and Tatarstan. "We are so accustomed to a wireless connection that can no longer imagine our city without it. Wherever we traveled, first of all, we pay attention to the security of communications. A lot of work was made in Kazan. And this is a great merit of the President of our republic, "- said the Mayor of Kazan.
