I. Metshin: "Kazan should remain a leader in any economic environment"

(Kazan City KZN.RU, November 2, Ksenia Shvetsova). Kazan is one of the cities most prepared for the crises. The capital of Tatarstan is still among the leaders in many key socio-economic indicators. All this suggests that Kazan has all the chances to remain "relatively calm bay in the waves of the sea" in a systemic crisis. This opinion was expressed by the Mayor Ilsur Metshin today at the Business Monday.

"I am glad that we are still in the top three in attracting investment, it is the key of successful economy for any city. But in this direction it is too early to rest on our laurels, there are specific areas where it is necessary to strengthen the work. Small business also increased its muscles, but yet here we have to grow”, - says I. Metshin.

Over the past 9 months the vast majority of the industries steadily increase the pace as in previous years. For example, the growth is observed in the chemical industry, production of rubber and plastic products, machinery and equipment, optical and electrical equipment. Also pulp and paper production and printing showed significant growth, the chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Executive Committee of Kazan Ildar Shakirov told.

Kazan occupies the third place among the other megacities in terms of investment in fixed assets of large and medium-sized enterprises. In the first half of the year Kazan managed to attract more than 51 billion rubles to the economy.

 Another area in which the city is in the lead is the construction. In 2015, in the territory of the Kazan 885 objects are being built, one in three of them is a living house. Also the city goes to the second place in terms of retail turnover per capita. In the first 9 months turnover amounted to 321.7 billion rubles.
