I.Metshin: "We need to continue to improve urban transport"
(Kazan City KZN.RU, October 26, Ksenia Shvetsova). Work to reduce the number of accidents involving urban public transport is continued in Kazan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin gave the order to treat the problem of the growth of road accidents in the past with all the attention at previous Business Monday. The chairman of the Transport Committee of the Executive Committee of the city Aydar Abdulhakov reported on the results of a week of work at the stuff meeting in the Mayor's Office.
Aydar Abdulhakov told that extraordinary briefings for drivers were held at the transport companies. The standard inspection of vehicles before their release to the line is conducted. Work related to passengers and pedestrians also is in the frames of measures to reduce the number of accidents. Leaflets in which residents are asked to be careful and cross the road only in the right place are actively distributing among them.
Also, as Aidar Abdulhakov explained, new activities are planned in conjunction with the Department of Education. For example, additional five-minute meetings, which will remind the rules of the road, will be held for children in schools.
"I hope that these events will have an effect. Specific objectives to be achieved are set for you, - Mayor appealed to the chairman of the committee. - We have done a good job of organizing public transport, had a lot of consulting with the public. But to date we still have work to do".
