Today Rustam Minnikhanov, the Tatarstan President and Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan has launched a simultaneous sinking of two tunnel complex (TC) called “Altynchech” and “Aysylu”. ”Altynchech” will conduct the right tunnel with the length of 1350 meters from the “Moskovskaya” station to the “Dekabristov” station. At the same time "Aysylu" will traverse the path in 1320 meters between the “Zavodskaya” station and the “Moskovskaya” station thus laying the left tunnel between stations.
"Today we begin tunneling with two machines; we have not ever had such a thing in our city. Despite all the financial difficulties the construction of Kazan subway remains a priority for us. Even now we can say that this kind of passenger shuttling will be acquitted as during the Kazan underground works 1, 7 million citizens of Kazan have been already carried. So the metro is gradually becoming the main type of transport in the city. Large work is ahead because ten underground stations should operate by the Universiade-2013 - Rustam Minnikhanov, the President has noted sending the “Aysylu” in her way. Meanwhile her friend “Altynchech” has already surmounted the first meters of the tunnel. The velocity of the tunnel complex is up to 55 mm per minute, or 250 meters per month.
The start of the two tunnels sinking is a real feast for metro constructers who attended the ceremony with their families. “Of course this is a big event for us. After all "upstairs" people do not even realize what work is hard that we have to do under the earth”, explained Benjamin Terzimanov, the Deputy Chief of the “Kazmetrostroy” Municipal Unitary Enterprise.
Recall that all stations should be operational for six months before the start of World Summer Student Games in 2013. The “Altynchech” and the “Aysylu” tunnel complexes are able to operate in a mode of compensation of the pressure of rocks which allows the use them in a complicated Kazan hydro geological conditions.
