Mayor of Kazan presented commemorative medals to war veterans

Today Mayor of Kazan visited at home war veterans and congratulated them on the upcoming holiday - 65th anniversary of the Great Victory.

To all veterans Ilsur Metshin on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation awarded jubilee medals "65 Years of Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" as well as gifts from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Kazan City Hall.

"I bow to our most respected elder generation, they fought and forged victory in the rear. They are people of amazing kindness and peace. Each one of them even now seeks to be helpful to neighbors, school, his microdistrict. They ask us, how can they help. I am happy to carry out tasks assigned by leadership of the country and the republic - handing over these awards and gifts. Very pleasant, that in response sound only words of gratitude, "- the head of the city shared his impressions after meeting with veterans.

On the eve of the 65th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War in Kazan will be presented to more than 39 thousand awards. Specialists of social services examined the current state of health and the wishes of the war veterans. More than 24 thousand of veterans wanted to take part in various urban and regional events, and 15 thousands of veterans would be more convenient to get awards and gifts at home. Of the 39 thousand awards more than 33 thousand will receive workers of rear, more than 4 thousand - persons with disabilities and members of the Great Patriotic War, 242 - residents of besieged Leningrad, 137 - former prisoners of concentration camps, as well as nearly 2 thousand widows of this bloody war.
