Today in Kazan Victory Park in the meeting devoted to the opening of Post number 1 at the eternal flame, started the action "St. George ribbon".
Start to an international action was given by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. Activists of youth public organizations offered to all the citizens who came to the meeting to pin on the lapel of their jacket black and orange symbol of memory of the Great Victory.
This year within the limits of the action of Tatarstan will be distributed more than 500 thousand George's ribbons to residents of the republic. Approximately the same number were distributed last year.
Action "George's ribbon-2010" will take place throughout the country and abroad from April 22 to May 9. The event is timed to the 65th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War. This year's event will take place already at 6th time. For 5 years has been extended more than 55 million ribbons worldwide. In foreign countries declared to support the action Russian diasporas in the UK, USA, Mexico, Turkey and Argentina, China, Iceland, South Africa, Greece, Vietnam.
As noted by the organizers, the main aim of the action is the desire of any cost to prevent new generations to forget who and with what the price won the most terrible war of the last century, whose heirs we stay, who should be proud of, whom to remember.
