Kazan will tell about itself at London "Shrovetide"
From 5 to 9 February, in London, in Potters Field Park will be held the second annual festival of Russian culture "Shrovetide", which will be attended by the delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan.
At the festival, which will support the London Mayor's Office, Ministries of culture of Russia and Tatarstan, the Moscow Mayor's Office, Kazan Mayor's Office and the Direction of Universiade 2013, will be submitted to the diverse cultures of Russia and its separate regions with emphasis on the Republic of Tatarstan.
The festival program - acquaintance with the traditions of Shrovetide, folk, jazz and classical music, theater and sporting performance devoted to the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and in Sochi in 2014.
Official delegation of Tatarstan, comprising 18 people, will make two presentations: "Kazan-2013" and "Universiade-2013".
During the visit also will be held a meeting of the Organizing committee of the 2013 Universiade with representatives of the Organizing committee of Olympic Games 2012 in London.
7 February at 13.00 Russia will present a cultural program, where will perform singer Pelageya, group «Billy's Band», Angelica Agurbash, trio "Relict", Dmitry Danilenko, quartet "Terem".
At 16.00 with the prologue "Flags of the Universiade" will begin a concert program of the Republic of Tatarstan in the performance of dance ensemble "Kazan", Russian folk songs and potpourri of Tatar folk songs performed by Zarina Bikmullina. Director of the concert program - Maxim Skalozubov (Kazan).
On a separate stage intended for the most young viewers will feature the best children's groups.
Each day will be working a booth, where "barsik Uni" will treat all comers with Russian pancakes.
At the end of the festival will be a reception at City Hall in London, which will be attended by the head of the city Boris Johnson, Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov, representatives of the government of Russia and State Duma, members of the British Parliament, representatives of the Organizing committee of the Universiade-2013, leading cultural, political figures and businessmen of both countries.
According to statistics, last year's festival attracted more than forty thousand spectators, among which a large Russian-speaking diaspora in London as well as much of the British, interested in the traditional national holidays.
