(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 9, by Zilya Gayfi) The renovated Victory Park opened in Kazan. As part of the large-scale festivities dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame, and a memorial area and a "Memory Book" pavilion were opened. The opening ceremony was attended by Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic Ildar Khalikov, State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarsan State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Rustam Minnikhanov and Ilsur Metshin visited the newly renovated memorial area. The mayor of Kazan showed the acting president of Tatarstan the new "Memory Book" pavilion with four electronic terminals. The database contains information about the inhabitants of Tatarstan who were called to the battle front and never returned home.
Rustam Minnikhanov and Ilsur Metshin took a stroll down the newly laid park alleys and inspected the open-air museum of military hardware. The legendary T-34 tank produced in 1940 found its place among the unique exhibits. The heads of the republic and of the city administration greeted everyone on the occasion of the Victory anniversary.
Finally, an "Immortal Regiment" march was held on the Alley of Glory in memory of the war heroes. More than 600 high school and college students of Tatarstan's capital marched with portraits of fallen soldiers from among their relatives.
