(Kazan, KZN.RU, June 9, by Renat Shirmanov) A unique auto show, «Kazan City Racing», to be held at Kazan's Millennium Square on June 15, will be a vivid and exciting event, which which will take place outside Moscow for the first time. Such large-scale events, interesting both to locals and visitors, dramatically improve the city's standing. This opinion was expressed by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at today's Business Monday meeting.
Deputy head of the non-profit organization "Sports Projects Executive Directorate" Mikhail Zotov said that over the past six years, "Formula 1" races have been held in Russia exclusively near the Moscow Kremlin.
"On June 15, Kazan's Millennium Square will turn into an impromptu 700-meter-long race track, on which the world-class pilots will demonstrate their skills in an unforgettable show. The entertainment program will kick off at noon, the races will start at 14:00, and the whole event will last until 17:00," said M.Zotov.
The race is supported by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Kazan mayor. Admission to all events of «Kazan City Racing» will be free.
"This will sure be an exciting and fun event both to the people of Kazan and visitors. We should spread the news of the race among the neighboring Volga cities so that the show would promote Kazan as a tourist center. It is the first time that an event of this scale will be hosted by a Russian city other than Moscow. This shows that Kazan is in demand for hosting such events. Hopefully, «Kazan City Racing» will attract a large number of spectators," said Ilsur Metshin.
