(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 26, by Zilya Gafiyatullina) The municipal trust "Gorvodzelenhoz" launched a beautification program for city streets, parks and squares in the framework of the "Blooming Kazan" project, Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, chairman of the external improvement administration, said at today's Business Monday meeting.
According to him, this year it is planned to lay out flower beds over an area of 34 thousand square meters, which is 35 % more than last year. More than 1,200 flower pots will be hung on central streets and additional flower beds will be laid out in parks, squares and gardens, with 27 kinds of flowers planted.
The expansion of flower bed areas became possible because the owners of buildings and offices joined the effort. So far, businesses have hung some 500 flower pots and decorated an area of about one thousand square meters with flower beds.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin noted that landscaping should be implemented wherever possible. The head of the city urged building owners to take an active part in the "Blooming Kazan" project and thanked those who have already responded to his request to decorate their office and business entrances. "Participation in this project is honorable but purely voluntary. I thank everyone who has already decorated building entrances."
