(Kazan, KZN.RU, May 26, by Renat Shirmanov) Kazan's experience in transportation infrastructure improvement is used by other regions. Thus, a Moscow delegation, which became interested in the public transportation reform, will arrive in the capital of Tatarstan in June. This was announced by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at today's Business Monday meeting.
The mayor said that he had received a letter from Maxim Liksutov, deputy mayor for transportation and development of transportation infrastructure, to the effect that Muscovites were interested in Kazan's experience in public transportation improvement. "Kazan has achieved impressive results in the optimization of transportation network by competitive selection of private carriers and implementation of an automated bus control system," the letter said.
Ilsur Metshin noted that coming of such delegations to Kazan is nothing new. "Over the past five years, representatives of every Russian Federation region came here to study our transportation system. Implementing the reform was not easy, but as a result we have become a free university of transportation improvement," said the mayor of the capital of Tatarstan.
Ilsur Metshin also noted Moscow's positive experience in creating a unified parking space and urged those concerned to thoroughly study it.
Chairman of the Transportation Committee Aidar Abdulhakov noted that Kazan was developing a complex program of development of city transportation for 2014-2020 with a view to 2030. The program should be an effective tool for improving transportation and dealing with traffic congestion.
