(KZN.RU, May 30, Taisiya Basharkina) During and after the Universiade, life in Kazan will not come to a standstill: road, housing and school construction and renovation will proceed according to plan.
"Kazan cannot afford such a luxury – to suspend work in July," said Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at a press breakfast on the fifth anniversary of the victory of the capital of Tatarstan in the fight for the right to host the 27th World Summer Universiade in 2013.
The main topic of the meeting was the upcoming Universiade: the final steps to prepare for it and life after the Games. Ilsur Metshin noted that the fifth anniversary is a significant date. “We are counting the days left before the Universiade. A tremendous amount of work has been done, and we have already entered the home stretch. There is no doubt that everything will be completed on time; all major work will be finished in June,” said the mayor.
Ilsur Metshin emphasized that during the Universiade life in Kazan will not stop. "Construction unrelated to the Games, such as school repair, housing, including affordable and commercial housing construction, will continue. Life will go on. The Universiade is just another stage in the development of Kazan, and the city will continue to develop further," said the mayor.
