In 2024, the capital of Tatarstan set a new record for the number of housing commissioned

In 2024, 1,417,000 square meters of new housing were built in Kazan, including 97,400 square meters under the Republican Social Housing Program. Of the total housing commissioned in the republic, Kazan accounts for 41% and, together with the suburbs, 70.8%. Ilsur Metshin announced during the 36th Session of the Kazan City Duma that last year set a historic record for housing completion in Kazan.

«It's no secret that residents of the suburbs are the same as Kazan residents – they work, study, send their children to school and kindergarten, play sports, and relax in Kazan. Rustam Nurgalievich, we hope that you will provide us with your support – when allocating funds for social infrastructure, we will receive two-thirds, rather than current one-third, taking into account the needs of our suburbs», – Ilsur Metshin said to the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan.

The Kazan Executive Committee developed a comprehensive municipal geographic information system to reduce costs and shorten the delivery time of housing. Presently, it includes over 19 million pieces of information - the main documents of urban planning. Over the past five years, the amount of data in the system has grown fivefold.

Ilsur Metshin reminded during the report the development of a digital twin of the city. A r3D model created using aerial and panoramic photography and laser scanning of more than 2,000 kilometers of urban roads. «Thanks to the AI technology, Kazan has become one of the leaders in the IQ ranking of cities for digitalization of the urban economy, ranking second only to Moscow and St. Petersburg», – said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

Besides the construction of new residential areas in Kazan, last year 179 residential buildings were renovated, where 50 thousand live. Since the start of the renovation program, more than 4,000 houses have been renovated in the city, including 1,329 completely. This has improved living conditions for 604,000 people.

«18 years ago, at the Kazan City Hall at a meeting of the Security Council under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, a fateful decision was made to eliminate a pressing problem for the whole country», – Mayor Ilsur Metshin said about the establishing of the federal housing renovation program.
