On the eve of the BRICS summit, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin held a
visiting meeting to discuss the new principles of architectural lighting.
During the meeting, he inspected several public spaces in the city, including
bus shelters at Gorky Park, the City Hall, Fuchs Garden, the embankment, and
buildings on Kremlyovskaya Street, as well as the National Library of
Tatarstan. These facilities will be connected to a unified management system,
which will allow for different lighting options based on the day of the week,
time of day, and occasion. The unified lighting system will allow for
flexibility and creativity in creating different moods and atmospheres for
different occasions. At the meeting, Metshin encouraged entrepreneurs to
participate in the preparations for the upcoming international event by
decorating their premises with the appropriate lighting. He emphasized the
importance of creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for visitors to the
city.
“One of the important features that improves the look of the city is its
lighting. It's important for us to consider where we can create more bright
spots in Kazan. The guests may leave, but the landscape and lighting will
remain for our citizens, so I'm appealing to all managers and building owners:
let's make our city brighter,”- said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
He reminded that for the 2013 Universiade in Kazan, entrepreneurs
participated in the decoration of the city. For the first time, many started
using illumination of entrance groups and entire buildings as well as floral
decorations. And in the end, we benefited from this customer-oriented approach.
The citizens liked the attractive facades, which led to an increase in visitor
traffic.
According to Alexander Rogozhin, the contract manager of Kazenergo JSC,
the company has developed a concept for architectural lighting that includes
three options: weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 288 main city buildings,
including cultural heritage sites, will be connected to a unified management
system that will allow for the simultaneous activation of illumination and
control of these options. The lighting will change from a cool white to a warm
color, creating a wave.
One of the architectural lighting options was considered for the bus
stop pavilion at Gorky Park. Now, the facade of the building is decorated with
an LED strip and 22 lights have been installed on the roof, highlighting metal
plates, which make the entire stop a bright accent on the street.
The Mayor instructed to finalize the lighting design for the pavilion and
the memorial complex: “Yershova Street is one of the busiest streets in the
city, and we need bright lighting here.” Experts suggested lighting the entire
roof of the pavilion, installing floodlights on the columns, and adjusting the
lights inside to a warm color. On behalf of the mayor, the monument and stele
will also be illuminated with additional spotlights.
The Mayor inspected the facade of the Kazan City Hall, which is part of
the unified concept of architectural illumination. Specialists made
illumination in similar colors, focusing on the vertical axis to emphasize the
monumentality of the building. The concept also includes the National Library
of Tatarstan, which is illuminated in waves, the house of the poet Gavrila
Kamenev, the building of the Tatarstan Ministry of Construction, Architecture
and Utilities, where all work has been completed.
The BRICS summit will take place in Kazan on October 22 - 24.
