Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, conducted another tour of the
facilities that are preparing for international events – the BRICS Games and
the BRICS Summit. The head of the city inspected the progress of reconstruction
of Baumana Street from the building of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences to the
intersection with Astronomicheskaya Street, got acquainted with the work on renovation
of the Nogai Hotel and discussed their plans with the owners of the facilities.
The total area of the reconstruction of Baumana Street is 1.6 hectares. To
date, on the section from Chernyshevskogo Street to Astronomicheskaya Street,
work is being completed on the dismantling of paving bricks (89%). The last
time the paving was replaced more than 20 years ago.
“The maintenance of a pedestrian street is a special issue that is not
provided for in road repair programs. Therefore, we repaired it, saving funds
little by little. The section from Profsouznaya St. to Chernyshevskogo St. was
put in order for the Universiade, and the section from Chernyshevskogo to
Astronomicheskaya streets has not been renovated for 20 years. In addition,
there are big problems with storm sewers in this place. Because of this, the
ground was eroded, there were many sinkholes. Now we will finally solve this
problem,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
The project of an improved storm sewer system provides for the diversion
of water flows due to decoupling towards the Bulak channel. Additional
rainwater cut-off trays will appear on the site from Profsouznaya Street to
Chernyshevskogo Street, lighting poles will also be replaced there.
The laying of new paving stones on Baumana Street has been completed by
45%. It is planned to replace the coating on an area of 23,100 square meters.
Paving bricks will be convenient for the use of strollers and disabled people.
A new solid foundation will be prepared for paving bricks.
The walls of the descents to the preserved underground gallery along the
historical building of the Kazan Hotel will be improved, and the glass prisms
on the roof of the facility will be replaced.
“There is a huge amount of work to be done. I am sure that after the
BRICS Games and the BRICS Summit, the number of people wishing to return to
Kazan will grow. They periodically ask: what is the purpose of holding
international events? The event will remain in memory, and everything we have
done for them will serve Kazan residents and guests of the city,”- Ilsur
Metshin said.
As part of the bypass of Baumana Street, Ilsur Metshin visited the Nogai
Hotel, where one presidential suite and four deluxe rooms are currently being
equipped. The reception area and the lobby bar are being renovated in the
building.
The presidential suite will have a bedroom, a living room, an office and
a kitchen. A smart home system with a touch screen device is provided to change
the brightness of lighting and air conditions.
“We are overhauling almost all the suites in the hotel. Renovation needs
to be carried out once every 10 years, and then the BRICS Summit pushed us,”-
said Vitaly Bolshakov, CEO of the hotel complex.
