Ilsur Metshin to students: “The limit is only in your head. Set goals correctly and achieve them!”

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin met with activists of Kazan State Power Engineering University and answered their questions. The meeting took place at the university building on Krasnoselskaya Street. The students asked the head of the city about his student life, and also told about their vision of the development of the youth sphere in the city. The Mayor supported their proposals to hold a startup session and a theater festival. And a student from Angola interested about the culture of the Tatars. In response, Ilsur Metshin invited the student and his family to become special guests at Sabantuy in summer.

Today, one of the largest universities in the city is actively developing. The senior students are interning at the leading enterprises of the capital of Tatarstan. At the same time, they are engaged in sports, ecology, media development and volunteering. Ilsur Metshin noted the achievements of students and professors.

“When we visited foreign universities and compared them with ours, we realized that we lacked an applied task. Our practical tasks lagged far behind the theory. The university deals with specific tasks that the city and the republic live with today. Since you are studying at a power engineering university, the most important thing is to gain knowledge related to this profile. But it is also important to engage in an active life, which is what you are doing. You have the best student of the year, an excellent volunteer center and much more. All mayors dream to have such universities,”- the head of the city said.

Alsu Yamilyova, a student and a curator of student projects, asked the Mayor the first question. She suggested holding startup sessions in Kazan with the involvement of business leaders. Alsu Yamilyova said that many students have their own ideas for the development of the city. She asked the Mayor for support in the implementation of her initiative, which is planned to involve representatives of all universities of Tatarstan.

Ilsur Metshin supported the idea and suggested reserving the site for the session after the May holidays.

Francisco Domingo came to study in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan from Angola. He asked the head of the city which are the best places in the city to visit in order to understand the culture of Tatarstan.

“To get acquainted with our republic, you need to come to the Tatar national Sabantuy in any village where the holiday is held according to all traditions. People organize a concert in which all generations take part. In two days in the village you will be able to understand the spirit and beauty of our people,” the Mayor advised.

Ilsur Metshin, in turn, asked the foreign student if he had ever been to such an event, after which he invited Francisco Domingos and his entire family to visit Sabantuy this year. “I invite you to be my personal guest. And we will arrange tickets and accommodation, don't worry,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
