Today, the new Suleyman mosque complex opened in the Levchenko village with a big prayer hall for 300 men and 80 women on the second floor. Its total area exceeds 1,000 sq.m. Official opening was attended by the mayor of the Tatarstan’s capital.
He greeted the guests of the ceremony, “In March 2008, having just started my work in Kazan after its millennial anniversary, I came to Levchenko. Hardly had I entered the mosque, I saw visually-impaired people will pure happiness on their faces. They were sincerely glad that had waited in a queue and reached the mosque, as it could fit only 16 people at a time. May God accept our acts of kindness, prayers, and intentions. I congratulate everybody and wish to meet again at the openings of new mosques.”
Suleyman mosque opened in December 1999. In 2007, the teaching of the Koran basics to blind people began here. Over many years the facility remained the center of the education for the blind Muslims of Russia.
It took two years to raise the new mosque and cultural center complex. Now the two-story mosque has three white domes. Men’s prayer hall with a small fountain in the center of the hall is located on the first floor, women’s – on the second.
The Chairman of the Religious board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin also addressed the faithful, “As the faithful believers, we certainly rejoice at the opening of the new house of the Almighty – the mosque. It is customary that in Tatarstan each mosque has its own function, because it is not only a place of worship, but also a place where some social needs of the population are met.”
The main activities of the mosque and its cultural center will be aimed at shaping the moral qualities and the revival of traditional values among young people. Thus, starting from September next year a boarding school for the orphaned boys will open here. All of them will be kept by the Yardem National Islamic Charitable Foundation.
Honored Artist of Tatarstan, member of the Russian Union of Composers Raziya Enikeeva acted as the main patron and was presented with the letter of gratitude by Ilsur Metshin.
