“Last year became
a new stage in the development of inclusion in Kazan. The main vectors were set
at the meeting of the Mayor of the city with mothers of special children,
during which key issues were identified and decisions were made to improve the conditions
for people with disabilities”, - Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Head of the Executive
Committee of Kazan, said at the XV session of the City Duma. During her speech
at the City Hall, she reported about the progress of achievement of the outlined
objectives.
Today, as part
of remedial work with special children, 655 groups were established at preschool
educational institutions for more than 10 thousand children in various
nosologies. Conditions for teaching children with various disabilities have
been created at 45 municipal schools. “The number of resource classes has
increased from 5 to 27, and the number of classes where inclusive education of
children with disabilities with other children has increased from 50 to 371”, -
G.Sagitova noted. Currently, 1,011 handicapped children and 703 children with
disabilities are studying at municipal educational institutions of the city.
Sixty-five children
with disabilities attend classes at 17 schools of extended education. A map and
a chatbot for the accessibility of social objects have been launched.
A new creative
leisure center “MasterOK” has opened at school No. 49, adapted for special
children. There are 13 clubs working in the cultural centers of the city, where
88 special children are engaged in different classes. On the basis of the
Talantika youth club, a sports hall has been opened for handicapped people who
cannot attend regular gyms.
Since August 1 2021,
swimming, floorball, mini-football, hippotherapy, physical therapy and table
tennis classes have been held at 13 municipal sports facilities for people with
disabilities.
An important
event was the opening of a specialized sports complex for children and adults
with disabilities, including Paralympians, on the territory of the Yardem Mosque.
Since the
beginning of the year, nine competitions have been held for people with
disabilities.
In June 2022,
the training of the first team of volunteers- tutors, organized by the
non-profit organization “Good Kazan”, took place.
Shifts for
children with disabilities were organized in children's country camps.
The public
organization “Prosto drugie” (Simply different) together with the
administration of the Sovetsky district implemented a project of a training
apartment for people with intellectual disabilities.
Currently, the
inclusive leisure center “Peremena” is being prepared for opening on Kul Gali
str., 10, where pottery, carpentry, cooking and ceramics classes will work. The
fitness sessions for mothers raising children with special needs will also open
here.
At the end of
August, the Good Kazan coworking will open on Sechenov Street,5. It will bring
together representatives of more than 100 charitable communities. Now the premises
with an area of 506 sq.m are undergoing renovation.
An inclusive
coworking coffee shop is being created on Dubravnaya Street, 43, where young
people with disabilities can acquire the skills of a barista, waiter, cook,
florist, designer and get a job.
It was decided
to organize inclusive leisure centers for children with disabilities in all
districts of the city at the initiative of Ilsur Metshin.
Today, more than
80 thousand disabled people live in Kazan, more than 5.6 thousand of whom are
children. “People with disabilities are one of the most socially vulnerable groups
of citizens. Thanks to Kazan's unique perseverance and comprehensive approach,
we manage to change the situation for the better step by step”, - the Mayor
summed up.
