(KZN.RU, June 6, by Ekaterina Andreeva) The opening ceremony of the 2013Universiade is an opportunity to tell the world about Kazan, Tatarstan, and the new Russia, said Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 27th World Summer Universiade to be held in Kazan in 2013. This story will be told for four hours by no less than 7,000 performers.
"The work in preparing for the ceremony was officially started thirteen months before the event. The city is a large-scale construction site of road junctions, major road and housing repairs, intermodal transport organization and three subway station construction. Both Kazan residents and Universiade guests will be able to see the results of this work, and the whole world will learn about Kazan, Tatarstan and the new Russia while watching the opening ceremony. Preparation for the Universiade opening and closing ceremonies requires meticulous and synchronous operation from all of us,” said Ilsur Metshin.
It will be recalled that the 2013 Universiade will be held in the capital of Tatarstan July 6 --17 next year. The opening ceremony will take place on July 6, 2013 in the main arena of Kazan -- the new Rubin-Arena stadium seating 45,000 spectators -- which is being built on Chistopolskaya Street.
The mayor of Kazan emphasized that “all the creative forces of Tatarstan will be involved in the preparation for and conduct of the ceremonies” and noted that the logistics of organization of the show should be thoroughly elaborated as concerns both the participants and spectators.
Deputy General Director of NPO “Executive management “Kazan-2013”, executive director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 27th World Summer Universiade in Kazan, Igor Sivov, reported on the preparations. According to the staging plan, rehearsals of key numbers and mass scenes are due to begin in February 2013. In June 2013, they will be moved to the new football stadium. Igor Sivov also said that beginning March 1, 2013, specialists will start installing technical equipment on the new football stadium.
