In the Privolzhsky district of Kazan, an annex to gymnasium No.18 with the
Tatar language of education is under construction. The new adding to a building
on Kul Gali Street will solve the problem of shortage of places in the
gymnasium. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the
construction of the building today.
“It is hard to call a new building an annex – this building for 300
children is much larger than the school, all conditions for studying will be
created for children”, - Ilsur Metshin noted.
The new facility consists of two blocks - four-storey and three-storey,
which are connected by a passage.
Currently, 585 students attend the gymnasium, while its design capacity is
240 schoolchildren. Prior to the start of construction, primary school students
had classes in the main gymnasium building, while other students from 5 to 11
grades had classes at the neighboring school due to a shortage of places.
The Mayor of Kazan looked around the new classrooms of the school. The
annex with an area of almost 11 thousand square meters will include classrooms
for students from 5 to 11 grade, a sports hall, a spacious assembly hall, a dance
hall, as well as a canteen.
On the fourth floor of the annex there will be a recreation area for
children.
At the same time with the construction of the annex, the main building of
the gymnasium is being renovated, where primary classes will study after the
renovation. The updated school will be ready to welcome children by September
