The first library with a concert hall will open after renovation on 17 Mavlyutova
Street. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the
renovation of the library.
The library was built in 1989. This is one of the most visited libraries in
the city – it is located in a densely populated area.
The LLC KRK Group and the Archdesant creative group developed the design
project of the library. The reconstruction began in mid-September.
According to the project, the library is divided into two large zones: standard
reading rooms and co-working will be equipped in the quiet one, and rooms for teamwork,
events and board games will be created in the noisy one.
An exposition hall dedicated to Gulshat Zainasheva, a poet, publicist,
Honored Artist of Tatarstan, laureate of the G.Tukai Prize will be organized in
the quiet zone.
The Mayor noted the importance of creating a memorial zone with an
exhibition hall. He also instructed to finalize the design of the library.
Another feature of the library on Mavlyutova Street is a concert hall,
where literary and musical events and discussions will be held.
“This is the only library in the city with a concert hall. It is important
to understand that today reading is not limited to a book. We can listen to the
lyrics in the song, read electronic texts”, - explained Reseda Ismagilova.
Following the experience of the library on Klara Tsetkin Street in the
Kirovsky district, which opened after renovation in March 2020, readers will have
an opportunity to use the library fund: in addition to printed books, citizens
will be able to take electronic ones in the LitRes automated system.
After visiting the library, the Mayor asked on the book fund capacity of the
city libraries. 6 million rubles have been allocated from the city budget to
purchase new publications – according to the director of the Centralized
Library System of Kazan, Reseda Ismagilova, these funds are not sufficient.
The Mayor instructed to allocate an additional 10 million rubles for these
purposes in the near future. “The renovation is currently underway. However, we
can definitely solve the problem of purchasing new books- classical, foreign,
Russian literature. Gradually, all libraries will be renovated, but there is no
need to delay the renewal of the book fund,”- he stressed.
It is planned to complete the renovation of the library next spring.
