Bike paths to appear on new Kazanka waterfront
(KZN.RU, March 3, by Renat Shirmanov) A meeting on the improvement of the Kazanka waterfront was held at the Kazan City Hall today.
The projects submitted by young Kazan architects envisage linking separate parts of the left bank of the river Kazanka into a single complex, which will include hiking and biking trails and provide access to the water. This will create the necessary infrastructure for residents’ and visitors’ leisure activities and expand the recreation area near the Kazan Kremlin. According to the architects, the bike path may be as long as18 km.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that in realizing this project we need to draw on international experience. In particular, he cited the embankments in Istanbul, Baku and Barcelona. "We don’t have much time left and must start acting. A serious undertaking lies ahead of us,” summed up the mayor.
