Over the past 3 years, youth policy institutions in Kazan have been updated by 70%

During the report to the Mayor of Kazan, Airat Faizov the chairman of the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, told that in 2018 Tatarstan took the first place among Russian regions for the quality of systematic work with youth. For 95%, it was the merit of Kazan experts and youth. It is no coincidence that the final seminar of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs was held in Kazan.

Airat Faizov noted that Kazan has become a permanent site for holding major events in the field of youth policy. In 2018, Kazan hosted the All-Russian Educational Forum of Student Clubs “Vmeste Vpered!” (Rus. “Together Forward!”) with the participation of Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, the competition “Student of the Year of Russia”, the All-Russian Search Engine School “Search Front”, the V National Talent Competition “Beauty of Russian Students”, All-Russian Forum youth public organizations and associations, etc. Kazan not just demonstrated a high level of organization of these events but also actively participated in them. Thus, the best public activist of the country at the All-Russian competition “Student of the Year” was Igor Smirnov, a student of the KFU.

Following the results of participation in Russian forums, Kazan activists brought grants for 1 million 250 thousand rubles to Kazan. Co-financing for their projects amounted to 2 million 350 thousand rubles. The subordinate institutions of the youth policy won grants in competitions of all-Russian and republican levels in the amount of 4 million 240 thousand rubles. They were “KTsSO “Doverie”, MBU “Podrostok”, and the Kazan youth center.

A. Faizov thanked the Mayor for the support in the implementation of the program for the repair of teen clubs. Over the past 3 years, 36 teen clubs have been repaired with a total area of 12 thousand square meters. In addition, new clubs were opened in Zalesny, the micro-district “Tankodrom”, Ametievo, Novoe Arakchino, Derbyshki, the residential complex “Salavat Kupere”. Over the past 3 years, the infrastructure of youth policy objects has been updated by 70%.

“The club in the “Salavat Kupere” was full immediately after the opening, and the need was not fully covered. Residents are asking for another club”, said the speaker. The Mayor noted that this is a problem not only of “Salavat Kupere”, but also of other residential complexes under construction. He instructed the chairman of the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs to discuss with developers the possibility of renting space on the first floors of residential complexes under construction for house teen clubs. In his opinion, this could be a mutually beneficial solution.

Today, according to A. Faizov, the opening of centers in Yudino, the residential complex “Vesna”, another club in the residential complex “Salavat Kupere”, the Admiralteiskaya Sloboda, Novoe Arakchino, and the residential complex “Stantsiya Sportivnaya” is being considered. The chairman drew attention to the fact that there is an urgent need for teen clubs in Novo-Savinovsky district, in Boriskovo.

A major breakthrough was the new republican program for the overhaul of summer camps. The repair of camps “Zarechie”, “Molodezhny”, “Unitur”, and “Ogonek” is planned in 2019 within the framework of the first stage. The Mayor instructed to carefully prepare projects for the reconstruction of these camps in order to try to make a few of them year-round.

Airat Faizov said that many guests from other regions are surprised how Kazan managed to preserve the developed infrastructure of teen clubs and summer camps from Soviet times, the largest one among Russian regions. “I will tell you how”, said the Mayor with a smile. “At one time, we were offered a lot of money for the center “Zarechie”, for teen clubs. Indeed, many of them are ideally suited for trade institutions. But we believed that the time would come and we will have money for the clubs, and we would be able to repair them. And that’s how it happened after all”.

In addition to children and students, the Committee also works with young families for whom housing is a main issue. Over the past 3 years, social benefits for the purchase of housing are sent to 102 young families as part of the implementation of the target program “Providing housing for young families in Kazan” for 2016-2021. And the Committee holds the competition “The Best in Profession” for working youth.
