The ceremony of honoring the best sportsmen of Tatarstan “Sportsman of the Year” took place in Kazan

(KZN.RU, December 17). Today, an annual ceremony of awarding the best sportsmen of Tatarstan “Sportsman of the Year” was held in Kazan in the Volga State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Sports of the RT, Damir Fattakhov, the minister of Youth Affairs of the RT, representatives of departments, districts and municipalities of the republic took part in it.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked all the sportsmen and coaches for their great contribution to the glorification of sports Tatarstan. “Every your victory is a victory of our republic and the whole country as a whole. The systematic work is underway to modernize the sports infrastructure, educate young talents in Tatarstan. We see that this gives the results”, marked the President of the RT.

The sport has become a brand of Tatarstan, noted the head of the republic. “Our republic is considered the most sporting. And this is your merit. We are very pleased to see young people here demonstrating their first successes in sports. We are grateful to our veterans who laid a solid foundation for these victories”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

Then the President of the RT presented the main awards of the evening. The award “Best Sportsman with Disabilities” among women was given to Marta Zainullina, an Honored Master of Sports of Russia in biathlon and cross-country skiing among athletes with the affection of the musculoskeletal system. This year she won the silver medal and two bronze medals at the Phenchenhane Paralympic Winter Games.

Oleg Dontsov, a twice bronze medalist at the European badminton championships, champion of Russia, winner of the Russian Cup 2018, became the best sportsman with disabilities among men.

The “Best Sportsman of the RT” awards among women was given to the figure skater Evgenia Tarasova, who won the silver medal at the Olympics in South Korea. The title of “Best Sportsman of the RT” among men was given to Andrey Larkov, the silver and bronze medalist of the Olympic Winter Games of 2018 in cross-country skiing, reports the press service of the President of the RT.

The award in the nomination “Mass Physical Culture and Sport” was given to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, received the award in the nomination “Personal Example”.
