More than 300 Kazan citizens participated in the first autumn subbotniks in seven parks.

(KZN.RU, October 8, Ksenia Shvetsova). On October 6, the first subbotniks in the parks and squares of Kazan took place in the city. In total, they were attended by over 300 people. This week, citizens will continue to clean up the city. Kazan citizens will have to clean up the Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest, the parks named after Uritky, Gorky, Tinchurin, the Pobedy Park, Krylya Sovetov and the embankment of the Kaban Lake. Marat Zakirov, the head of the Directorate of Parks and Squares, announced this at the Business Monday today.

Last week, the cleaning took place on the territory of seven public spaces: in the parks “Chernoe Ozero”, “Kontinent”, “Kaleidoscope”, “Sosnovaya Roscha”, public gardens named after Aksenov, “Derbyshki”, and in Lyadskoy Garden. Students of secondary and higher educational institutions, employees of enterprises and employees of the Directorate of Parks and Squares cleaned up large household garbage, washed monuments, children's and sports grounds, small architectural forms, and also planted trees and shrubs, reported M. Zakirov.

An important area was the organization of separate garbage collection with the assistance of partners and activists of the EcoLogichno|Kazan community, said the speaker. According to him, those Kazan citizens who took part in the subbotnik have been additionally instructed on the rules for collecting and sorting waste. “Having learned about the separate collection of garbage, citizens brought waste paper and other garbage to our temporary collection points”, said M. Zakirov and thanked all the citizens who took part in the cleaning.

The next subbotniks will be held on October 13. Kazan citizens will continue to clean the parks and squares of the city, as well as the embankment of the Kaban Lake. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that there are always many people in the capital of Tatarstan who want to support eco-activists. “I am sure that there will be a sufficient number of responsible people who love their city and care about it”, noted I. Metshin. “I ask everyone to get involved in this work and organize everything correctly, so that they have enough equipment. Also, the regular garbage collection is necessary.”

The start of subbotniks is scheduled for 10 am.
