4 municipal beaches and 3 organized recreation areas will be opened in Kazan by June 1

(KZN.RU, May 21, Ksenia Shvetsova). The swimming season opens on June 1 in Kazan. In total, this year 4 municipal beaches will be opened for the population and guests in the capital of Tatarstan (Lokomotiv, Nizhnee Zarechie, Glubokoe Lake, Komsomolskoye Lake) and 3 organized recreation areas on the shores of the Lebyazhie and Izumrudnoe lakes and in the Pobedy Park. Ferdinand Timurkhanov, the head of the Department of Civil Protection, said this at the Business Monday.

Today work continues on preparing the beaches for the swimming season. According to the speaker, 7 boats, rescue equipment and medicines are prepared for work on the beaches at the moment. 4 rescuers of the Kazan OSVOD and one medical worker are scheduled to daily watch on all municipal beaches and recreation areas near the water. They will be at the water from 9 am to 8 pm. In total, 60 rescuers will provide security on the beaches.

By the result of last year, there is a positive statistics on the number of accidents on the city beaches in Kazan. “Last year, no one drowned on municipal beaches during the swimming season. Thanks to the coordinated and skillful work of rescuers, 8 people were rescued, including 1 child, and first aid was provided to 149 tourists”, noted F. Timurkhanov. He added that from May 15 to 17, a diving survey and cleaning of the bottom of all beaches were conducted in Kazan. In the near future, it is planned to complete laboratory analyzes of water and sand, update information stands with materials to prevent accidents on water, put out a notice on the prohibition of swimming in unequipped and dangerous beaches in Russian, English, and Tatar.

Until May 25, it is planned to complete the necessary activities for the preparation of beaches, including harrowing and loosening of sand, installing the necessary signs, restoring the fences of the children swimming area, repairing and painting sun-protective umbrellas, benches, urns, locker rooms, and other small architectural forms. Water supply and shower cabins will also be provided, noted the reporter. For today, the entire area of the beaches has been cleaned up from garbage, work on repairing and painting benches, shower cabins, and swings are carried out

On May 29, the readiness of beaches and places for mass recreation near the water will be checked by the commission of the Executive Committee.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted the good work of Kazan rescuers and instructed to complete all work on preparation before the beginning of the swimming season. “We have positive statistics on our municipal beaches not for the first year. Thank God, there was no drowning and dozens were rescued. Unfortunately, there are accidents, but this is mostly in unauthorized swimming places and alcohol involved in most of them. All we can do is to talk sense into people and conduct preventive explanations with them”, said I. Metshin and urged the citizens to swim only on municipal beaches specially prepared and tested before the beginning of the summer season.

He also noted that the beach infrastructure must be prepared at the highest level to the beginning of the World Cup. “Special attention is required for our municipal beaches, which are located next to the Fan-Fest site in the Nizhnee Zarechyie. There will be a large flow of guests. Apparently, there will be a lot of swimmers in the summer heat, not just among the citizens but also fans and tourists. Please take additional security measures and try to ensure that the entire infrastructure was prepared at a decent level”, concluded I. Metshin.
