The life expectancy of Kazan citizens on January 1 of this year reached 75 years

According to the results of the first year of the implementation of the strategy of social and economic development of Kazan until 2030, the targets for the social and economic development of the city in the overwhelming majority were fulfilled. Ildar Shakirov, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, responsible for transport, economic development, and trade, made a presentation on the implementation of the strategy today at the meeting of the XXV session of the Kazan City Duma.

I. Shakirov noted that the goals and objectives of the strategy were taken into account in all 24 municipal programs of urban development, which significantly increased their effectiveness.

For example, positive dynamics of demographic indicators remains. As of January 1, 2018, the population of Kazan was 1 million 243 thousand 500 people. “Kazan leads in the Volga Federal District and is much ahead in the number of newborns in Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, and other cities”, marked I. Shakirov. The life expectancy of Kazan increased, which on January 1 this year reached 75 years.

Today, 5% of children from 1 to 6 years in Kazan 7 are covered by preschool education. In order to provide children with places in kindergartens, the strategy provides for the expansion of private kindergartens and schools. The first year of implementation of the document demonstrated stable indicators in this direction. In addition, state educational institutions are being built.

“Thanks to the support of the leadership of the republic and active participation in federal programs, Kazan now ranks first among the million population cities in terms of the number of kindergartens, schools, and hospitals built in the city over the past 10 years”, noted I. Shakirov.

The main economic indicators in the city also showed significant growth over the past year. Thus, the gross regional product per capita reached 556 thousand rubles, and the total volume of industrial production exceeded 365 billion rubles. Monetary income per capita amounted to 4556 rubles, and the average annual number of employed in the economy reached 626 thousand people. All this allowed achieving an increase in turnover by 3.5%.

Also, I. Shakirov noted that the role in the economy of small and medium business in Kazan is growing every year. “As a result of last year, the share of employees in a small business accounted for 38% of the total number. This sector provides about 40% of the territorial product of Kazan. Turnover of small enterprises amounted to 540 billion rubles. The amount of tax revenues from SMEs to the budget of Kazan amounted to 3 billion 322 million rubles, which is almost 30% of the total amount of tax revenues”, said I. Shakirov.

“The strategy shows us the direction of activity, the Executive Committee outlined the main measures for its implementation. But more precise coordination of all structural divisions of the executive committee is necessary”, I. Metshin noted. “The Economic Development Committee, as coordinator of the implementation of the strategy, should conduct work and develop a system, in which the tasks carried out by individual units will lead to a common strategic goal”.

He also marked that for a year and a half since the adoption of the strategy, serious geopolitical and economic changes have occurred, so the document needs to be finalized. The strategy of social and economic development of Kazan until 2030 was adopted in 2016.

“In the message of the Russian president, the Federal Assembly clearly defines the directions of development, including the tasks facing the local self-government bodies. I ask the Executive Committee to finalize the action plan for the implementation of the strategy in a short period of time and begin work on adjusting all city programs in accordance with the main priorities and tasks of the strategy”, instructed the Mayor.

He appealed to the deputy corps with an appeal to become more actively involved in the implementation of the city development strategy.
