(KZN.RU, April 11, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). The upcoming overhaul of the House of Culture named after S. Said-Galiev will breathe new life into it. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, expressed confidence in that during his visit to the object. The head of the city examined the halls for classes, talked to the participants of creative studios, discussed with the leadership of the institution the concept of renovation of the building and the future of the Museum of military and labor glory of the village, and also examined unique objects and artifacts stored in the house of culture.
The House of Culture named after Said-Galiev, located at Sovetskaya Street, №18, was built in 1959 and until 1995, it was on the balance of the Kazan Optical and Mechanical Plant (KOMP). The building with an area of 6.2 thousand square meters is a newly discovered object of the cultural heritage of the Stalin era. The repair work was carried out there during 2001-2005 with interruptions.
There are 45 sections, creative studios and collectives in the HoC, in which about 3.5 thousand people are engaged, two-thirds of them are children. The most famous collectives are the theater of folk dance “Salavat Cupere”. There are three departments in the palace of culture: children's, art, and cultural-leisure. The institution serves more than 70 thousand residents from Derbyshki and nearby villages.
“Of course, this center of culture required repair for a long time. Thanks to the President of the RT for making such a decision”, said Ilsur Metshin. “We have a rich cultural life. We hope that repairs will breathe new life into it, bring it to a new level”. The Mayor of Kazan also reminded that this is not the only cultural institution that is to be updated.
I. Metshin visited the photo exhibition “He and she” by Sultan Iskhakov, which is organized in the hall of the House of Culture. Participants of the project “Zhiznelub” presented their talents. I. Metshin looked at the rehearsal of the students in the big hall of the children's choreographic section. “We will soon come to you with repair”, he promised them.
Valentina Ivanova, the director of the House of Culture named after S. Said-Galiev, said that the equipment on the stage is working, but the design has decayed and expressed the wish to keep the orchestra pit there. The Mayor of Kazan was interested in a number of historical wooden chairs. He suggested that they find use after repairing the building.
The museum of combat and labor glory of the village of Derbyshki is located in the HoC of S. Said-Galiev. “The uniqueness of the exposition is that the photographs are taken from war-time negatives”, said Svetlana Panina, the director of the museum. The exposition includes personal items, optical instruments, layouts and documents evidencing the construction of the KOMP, its work in wartime, the evacuation of workers of the Leningrad Optical and Mechanical Plant to Kazan, and the outstanding personalities associated with the village. “All this needs to be modernized, we need to make the museum more informative and install new storefronts”, suggested Valentina Ivanova. After major repairs, it is planned to organize a separate exhibition in honor of this Said-Galiev, as well as to make the museum available to the public.
Ilsur Metshin also examined the balconies of the foyer of the second floor above the hall. During the reconstruction, it is planned to adapt them for exhibitions. In the library, the Mayor was shown unique copies of books: Nikolai Gogol's works published at the end of the XIXth century, the novel “Anna Karenina” and “The Dramatic Histories” of the 1914 edition, as well as the 1930s published by Maxim Gorky and Vitaly Bianchi, who were once considered lost.
Now pre-project works are carried out in the HoC: examination and detection of objects of protection. The reconstruction is planned to be completed by the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the TASSR, which will be celebrated in 2020 by the decree of the President of the RT.
