(KZN.RU, March 19). Kazan passed another exam for political maturity, and residents showed their activity by coming to polling stations. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, expressed such an opinion today at the Business Monday, commenting on the presidential election held yesterday.
“The night, and not just the night, was sleepless for many those present in the hall. A lot of work has been done to prepare and hold an election campaign in Kazan. First of all, this concerned the legitimacy of the election campaign, security at the polling stations”, noted the head of the city. He reminded that both the heads of district administrations and heads of structural divisions held meetings with the population in schools, universities, medical institutions, at industrial enterprises, at the place of residence on the eve of the elections. The Mayor of Kazan assured that all the citizens' wishes will be taken into account in the further work.
He was pleased about the election results. “76% in Kazan for Vladimir Putin, with turnout a high enough in comparison with other cities. 61.5% of Kazan came to polling stations, we thank you for it”, marked the Mayor. 76% of voters voted for the current President, 11.8% for Pavel Grudinin, 4% for Vladimir Zhirinovsky, 2% for Ksenia Sobchak, almost 2% for Grigory Yavlinsky, and less than 1% for Boris Titov, Maksim Suraikin, and Sergey Baburin each.
“Together we took a step forward, step into tomorrow's strong Russia, we chose our leader. The elections were held on an alternative basis. There were a lot of candidates, the controversy was on television, in the media, and among the population”, said I. Metshin.
Ilsur Metshin thanked everyone who participated in the spring fairs that were organized at the polling stations, in particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the RT, the Department of Social Catering and Food, the villagers, the GK “Nefis”.
“In general, a lot of organizational responsible, professional work has been done”, marked the head of the city. “Kazan has passed another exam for political maturity. It always costs a lot when Kazan, as one family, votes, influences the result both in the republic and in Russia as a whole, supports actions not with words but by coming to polling stations”.
