The First International Investment Forum of Architecture and Design SIYUM is held in Kazan

(KZN.RU, March 9). Large-scale work on the improvement of public spaces finds a positive response among the population of the republic. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, announced this at a meeting with participants of the first International Investment Forum of Architecture and Design SIYUM, which started today in Kazan on the site of GTRK “Korston”. Mikhail Men, the minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the RF, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Irek Faizullin, the minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services of the RT, and others also took part in the event.

Prior to the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Men examined the exhibition, where various technologies in the field of architecture and design were presented, information about the training of specialized specialists in Tatarstan, projects of young architects, the press service of the President of the RT.

During the foresight session, eight presentations were presented to the guests of the forum, covering a wide range of topics: the development of the design industry, the management of urban development, the development of historical heritage, professional communities, and others.

Rustam Minnikhanov marked that the life quality of the population is improving from year to year. People need a comfortable space: parks, squares, developed urban environment.

“We did not even think about these tasks ten years ago. In recent years, the capital of Tatarstan is changing. We held the 1000th anniversary of Kazan in 2005. Much has been done on the eve of this date. But it turned out that not all of our decisions were correct. It was not intentional, rather, because of ignorance. Today we have a completely different approach to many issues”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

According to the President of the RT, the themes of the development of public spaces and yard territories are very important. “The population positively responds to all the changes. We must actively involve the experience of foreign partners, study the accumulated experience in Russia. Today there is a growing need for professional staff. We see that there is a whole galaxy of young specialists”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

The head of the Ministry of Construction of Russia recalled that Vladimir Putin set serious challenges for the industry in his message to the Federal Assembly. This is the increase in the level of improvement of housing conditions of citizens from 3.1 million to 5 million families per year, the growth of housing commissioning to 120 million square meters of housing per year, reducing the mortgage rate to 7-8%, as well as the development of a comfortable urban environment. “It is important not just to build millions of square meters of housing but to make them in demand. It is necessary to create conditions for residents, in which they will be comfortable to live, spend time outside their apartments”, said Mikhail Men.

The minister marked the importance of the role of architects in the creation of projects for improvement. Until the end of March, the department plans to announce the competition of architects and the subsequent creation of a personnel reserve. The competition procedures are currently being worked through. According to Mikhail Mem, separate nominations for architects of state and municipal authorities should be singled out in the competition. “Being an architect in a commercial bureau and working as the city's chief architect is a completely different task. They have their own specifics. Within the contest, which will be held by the Ministry of Construction of Russia, it is important to identify those promising young professionals who are ready to work in the state sector”, marked the minister.

The forum SIYUM will last until March 11. The main mission is the development of the architecture and design industry for the subsequent global changes in the environment and the strengthening of Tatarstan's position as a region with high creative potential, increasing its recognition on the international architectural and design stage.
