(KZN.RU, March 9, Alsu Safina). Today the meeting on the development of the territory of the historical center was held in the Kazan Executive Committee. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, was presented the successful experience of Irkutsk by Sergey Mayarenkov, the director of the ANO “Irkutsk Quarters”.
S. Mayarenkov spoke about the project “130 Quarter”, implemented in 2009-2012 due to the public and private investments, as well as how it was possible to make the center of Irkutsk more attractive, convenient, and comfortable. A single concept was developed, thanks to which the actions of investors and authorities were synchronous. Much attention was paid to the rules of land use and development, the creation of a planning project, the construction of new facilities, the restoration of architectural monuments, the development of public spaces, landscaping and other issues.
“We are on the way of building the economy on the cultural identity of the territory. This causes tourist interest, and the citizens still consider the city their own, as the architectural face of the city is preserved”, noted the author of the project.
Sergey Mayarenkov noted that the action “Façade” is held in Irkutsk. For two months, the facades of 41 houses were painted. This action is similar to the “Tom Sawyer Fest”, which takes place in the summertime in Kazan, not for the first year.
Olesya Baltusova, an assistant to the President of the RT, said the amount of work performed within the framework of “Tom Sawyer Fest” is greater and it is not limited to the painting of the facade. For today, 61 houses in the capital of Tatarstan require renewals, 7 of which are included in the program “Tom Sawyer Fest” for this year. Ilsur Metshin proposed to consider the possibility of increasing the number of facilities, on which work will be performed annually.
Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, voiced suggestions on the areas, in which the Irkutsk experience could be used in Kazan. Participants of the meeting discussed the presented options.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, thanked Sergey Mayarenkov for presenting the Irkutsk experience. The head of the city instructed to work out in more detail the options and ways of spreading the main ideas voiced at the meeting for the development of the central territories of Kazan.
Svetlana Persova, the deputy minister of Culture of the RT, and Andrey Lobov, the head of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration, also took part in the discussion as well.
