I. Metshin: “We are already choosing a site for the construction of a large concert hall”

(KZN.RU, March 5). A place for the construction of a large concert hall for 3-3.5 thousand seats is chosen in Kazan. Today Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, at a meeting with students and professors of the Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering told about what areas are being considered, the new flower design of the city for the World Cup, and the transportation issue in the residential complex “Salavat Cupere”.

Opening the meeting, Ilsur Metshin noted that the KSUAE is a high school with a rich history, a serious scientific school. Before the meeting, he examined the updated library of the university. The head of the city appreciated the changes. “The university annually produces engineers, builders, architects, designers, and other specialists. Thousands of graduates work at construction sites and design bureaus throughout the country”, said the Mayor.

The head of Kazan told the students about the results in the construction industry in the capital of Tatarstan in 2017.

Students of the KSUAE were interested in the life of the city and future projects, which will be implemented in the capital of Tatarstan. So, one of the participants in the meeting asked the head of the city whether a large concert hall is planned to be built in the city. “We are already choosing a site for construction, taking into account the required number of places”, said Ilsur Metshin. It is assumed that the concert hall will accommodate 3-3.5 thousand spectators. The grounds behind the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace, between the Family Center “Kazan” and the “Riviera”, near the sand base near the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda are among the options for the location of the new facility.

“Our dream is to realize a project of a national library and a large, beautiful concert hall in the foreseeable future”, Ilsur Metshin told the students.

Second-year student Ildar asked the question: “Can we expect that someday the Olympics games will be held in Kazan?”

The Mayor of Kazan drew attention to the fact that this question was asked to him more than once but this is a serious event that requires preparation. “Are we currently engaged in an application? No. This decision is always made at the country level. But I think that we will see this moment”, assured Ilsur Metshin.

The head of the city noted that before thinking about the Olympics, it is necessary to hold the World Cup in football first. According to the Mayor, this is the most spectacular event. He invited students and teachers to the fan festival, which will be held at the Family Center “Kazan” during the championship. The entrance to the festival will be free.

In addition, next year the capital of Tatarstan will host the world championship of working professions WorldSkills Competition. According to I. Metshin, each such event leads to a new level of development of the city.

Students were interested in objects of the urban environment. In particular, they were concerned about the fate of the unique building, in which the Kazan Art College named after N. Feshin is located. The Mayor of Kazan noted that a decision was made to repair this building.

The students mentioned the topic of road construction. Sophomore Tagir drew attention to traffic jams on the way out of the residential complex “Salavat Cupere”. Ilsur Metshin noted that several steps are provided to resolve this issue, including the construction of a double-track road.

In general, the number of cars has grown more than 2.3 times over the past 10 years. If in 2006 there were 180 thousand cars on the roads of the city, now their number has increased to more than 400 thousand. Work on the transport system is ongoing.

Another topic of discussion at the meeting was the separate collection of garbage. Now there are points of recycling in the city. A third of the yards in Kazan are equipped with nets for collecting PET bottles.

“We would be interested to hear your suggestions in this area, design, technology, urban and even commercial. This is a demand of the present, aimed at the future”, said Ilsur Metshin. The first proposal came immediately during the meeting. In the opinion of student Anton, it is important to motivate people in this matter by installing machines for receiving garbage, which would give out money in exchange, for example, to a plastic bottle.

The Mayor of Kazan thanked for the offer. “We have to go along this road together. It requires money, time and great patience. This is not an easy process, in which our citizens must be involved”, the Mayor said.

Leisan Zasypkina, a teacher of the KSUAE, thanked the Mayor for the fact that Kazan blossoms in spring and summer. “Will Kazan always bloom?”, she asked.

“It was a record. Then we planted 6.5 million flowers. This year we are increasing the area of flower gardens by 3 thousand square meters. We will pleasantly surprise you with a new flower arrangement”, said the Mayor.

At the end of the meeting, Ilsur Metshin thanked the students for their concern for Kazan and interesting questions on various spheres of life in the city. He also noted that many projects are being implemented in the capital of Tatarstan, where graduates of the KSUAE can apply their skills and talents. As one of the examples, Ilsur Metshin mentioned Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, who, as the graduate of the KSUAE, passed, a legendary path, according to the Mayor. She worked in the general plan department of the institute “Kazgrazhdanproekt”, then many years later in the USA, in particular, worked at the International Corporation “NBBJ”, and later became the chief architect of Kazan. In recent years, the capital of Tatarstan has been transformed, including through her participation in large-scale projects, I. Metshin noted. He urged students to actively participate in the development of the capital of Tatarstan.
