70 schoolchildren, students and post-graduate students received personal scholarships of the Mayor of Kazan

(KZN.RU, December 21, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). Today the annual awarding of the personal scholarships of the Mayor of Kazan took place in the Kazan City Hall. Ilsur Metshin congratulated the students on the victory and instructed the city's Executive Committee to recruit the most promising scientific projects of the contest’s laureates.

The contest for the nomination of the Mayor of Kazan scholarships has been held since 1994. This year, the organizing committee received more than 150 applications, 103 participants passed into the full-time stage. As a result, 70 winners were selected: pupils of schools, children's music and art schools, students of secondary schools and universities, and post-graduate students.

“You always conquer new frontiers in science, art, and sports and inspire us with confidence that the future of Kazan is in reliable hands”, Ilsur Metshin greeted the laureates. “Our city has a lot of gifted children. We know this from their numerous victories at Russian and international competitions. But talent, like a diamond, requires cutting and embedding labor. It is necessary to make great efforts in order to earn recognition, and you have proved that you are ready for it”.

The Mayor noted that the winners of the competition not just learn and develop their abilities at such a young age but also benefit society, inspire their peers to strive forward. This year, the record was beaten in the number of students' works for the scholarship. The commission examined many diverse projects, some of which are devoted to the development of Kazan and the urban environment. The students put forward ideas on the issues of ecology, economics, and infrastructure development. For example, Semen Yashagin from the Kazan State Energy University proposed to modernize door communication systems based on the contactless module, and Ekaterina Fishman, a student at the Kazan Federal University, assessed the state of the environment at the Samosyrovskaya waste disposal.

“We have noted a lot of works that can serve the development of our city. Dear fellows, all your thoughts are valuable! Each work is the key to making our city even more modern and comfortable for living”, said Ilsur Metshin. “I ask heads of districts, heads of structural divisions of the Executive Committee to pay special attention to the ideas of our young scientists”.

In a solemn atmosphere, laureates of the competition were awarded badges of scholars, diplomas, and scholarships: 30 thousand rubles for graduate students, 20 thousand rubles for university students and participants in youth public associations, 10 thousand rubles for students of secondary vocational schools, children's music and art schools, and schoolchildren. Students of the Children's Music School №22 in the Privolzhsky district, the Tatar Children's Music School №32 in Moskovsky district, students of the Kazan State Energy University, the Kazan Cooperative Institute (the branch of the Russian University of Cooperation), the Kazan College of Technology and Design, postgraduate students of the Kazan Federal University, and other educational institutions are among the winners.

“It is extremely important for any young scientist that his scientific principles are highly appreciated and ultimately found their practical application. Therefore, we promise that we will justify your trust, continue professional and scientific growth, and will proudly defend the intellectual property of Kazan both at the all-Russian and international levels!” said Andrey Anisimov, a student of the Kazan State Medical University, and thanked the Mayor of Kazan on behalf of all participants of the competition.

The studio of variety dance “Izumrudny Gorod”, the show-ballet “Allegro”, “Action man crew”, the chorus of the Academy of Popular Music of Igor Krutoy, and Maria Semenova, an Honored Artist of the RT, performed for the talented youth. Heads of the city districts’ administrations, representatives of the structural units of the Kazan Executive Committee, university rectors, heads of colleges, teachers, and parents of laureates attended the event.
