(KZN.RU,
November 27). Kazan leads the list of cities with a population of 1 million
people by the number of births per 1000 inhabitants. Over the past 9 months of
this year, more than 16 thousand people were born in the Tatarstan’s capital.
Ildar Shakirov, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, responsible for
transport, economic development, and trade, reported this on the Business
Monday today.
Ildar
Shakirov noted that the birth rate decrease by 12% is observed in comparison
with the same period of the last year. He explained this by the fact that a
small generation of the 1990s enters into childbearing age.
Also, the
reduction in the death rate is observed in the city. The number of deaths
decreased by 2.1%.
Ildar
Shakirov said that Kazan continues to be a city attractive for moving in.
“Tendencies of migration growth continue. If last year the difference between
the arrived and the departed was 14.9 thousand people for a given period of
time, now there are already 16.2 thousand people”, noted the deputy head of the
Executive Committee. “The social and economic situation of Kazan is assessed as
stable for all analyzed indicators”, said Ildar Shakirov.
“Despite
the decrease in the birth rate, the difference between the level of birth and
death continues to grow. This is one of the most important indicators that
illustrate the quality of life. Life expectancy is increasing, which is also
very important”, marked Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.
