The first city chess school will open in December in Kazan

(KZN.RU, November 17, Mikhail Chentsov). Soon the first city chess school will appear in Kazan in the building on Gorky Street, №11/2, in which about 60 athletes will be able to study. The first competitions, the Mayor's Chess Cup, are planned for the school in December this year. Ilsur Metshin, the head of Kazan, got acquainted with the repair work in the building, where there weren't any repairs since 1953.

The chess section will open in one of the buildings of the Sports School №1 for gymnastics and acrobatics. Milyausha Ibragimova, the director of the Children's Sports School, told that there was no chess school like that in Kazan before. “In 1939, there was only a branch of chess. Our Children's Sports School received this building after the war when various sports began to budge from sports schools, but the chess was a little forgotten”, she noted. According to her, the Central specialized children's and youth chess school of the Olympic reserve named after R. Nezhmetdinov works at the republican level, and this is a new direction for the city, which is important to develop.

Young chess players will come to a completely renovated building. “This is what was here 3 months ago. Nothing has been done here since 1953”, the director showed old pictures. Now a significant part of all electrical and plumbing work is done in the building of the future chess school, the finishing of the premises is at the final stage.

According to M. Ibragimova, 2 coaches will be engaged with 60 children on a permanent basis in the chess school, and the school's occupancy for the duration of the competition is calculated for 80-90 simultaneously playing sportsmen. “There is enough space. A large competition hall will be equipped with the latest technology with demonstration and information boards, with sound notification. Sparring of chess players and group training will be held in the training hall. And all conditions are provided for the trainers”, she said.

Svetlana Vostrikova, the head of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, who also took part in the meeting, noted that the comments of athletes and coaches were taken into account in preparation for the repair work. She added that the necessary equipment has already been purchased and is waiting for the installation.

The Mayor marked that all the wishes of chess players should be taken into account. “The place of competition, light, screens, all this should be at the level of the capital of Tatarstan. There are many who want to play chess. It is an intellectual game, and it's very good that we decided to make such a city school. Let's make it worthy”, said the head of the capital of Tatarstan.

The director of the school believes that the chess school will be in demand and will become a real center of attraction for chess fans of all ages. “Each new sports school is the solution to social issues. Not only children but also other chess lovers will come here, even people of advanced age. I want this to turn into such a cozy chess gingerbread house that will give results both socially and sports”, said Milyausha Ibragimova at the end of the inspection and thanked the city leadership for attention to intellectual sports.
