(KZN.RU, October 26, Anton Nozdrin). The second stage of
improvement in the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest in Kazan is almost finished: the
total performance of works is about 80%. Ski tracks with lighting, pump-track,
work-out, and dog-walking areas are arranged in the territory. The new sites
will be available to residents at the end of November. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor
of the city, inspected the progress of work in the new park.
Natalia Fishman, an assistant to the President of the RT,
and Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee and the
chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, told the Mayor that this
year the landscaping continued with the installation of new eco-friendly
footpaths with lighting and installation of an additional network of video
surveillance for the visitors. In winter, the territory will become the center
of attraction for skiers. Illuminated ski tracks from the part of the Ometevsky
part of the forest are equipped in a forest, in addition to the existing
routes, which were open within the first stage of improvement. Also, areas for
outdoor activities will appear here in the near future: pump track, work-out,
and dog-walking areas.
A special platform of container blocks is being built where
various services for park guests will operate: educational, sports, and
catering points.
Ilsur Metshin inspected all the facilities under
construction and communicated with the local residents, who were walking in the
park at the time. They thanked the city authorities for the improvement of the
territory and noted that they really like the forest. It attracts citizens
already now: pensioners, parents with children, and dog owners walked in the
park despite the weekday.
Within the framework of the second stage of the work, it is
planned to arrange additional entrances from the streets Rodina and Bratiev
Kasimovyh. In addition, the ravine is now being strengthened with the
organization of surface water disposal, and benches, urns, hammocks are being
installed. It is planned to complete the main types of work by November 1, and
the strengthening the ravine – during the month. The Mayor of Kazan instructed
to meet the deadlines so that by the winter the citizens could fully use the
services of the park.
Rustem Gafarov, the head of the Sovetsky district’s
administration of Kazan, Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture,
Alsu Karyakina, the head of the Directorate of Parks and Squares, and others

area. Parking, ecological paths and sidewalks, entrances with arches, a ski
base, tracks, a fountain, a festival platform, and other objects appeared on
the territory as part of the first stage of improvement at the request of
residents. The official opening of the renovated Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest on
